Ecole Doctorale

Sciences Po's Doctoral School offers Masters and Doctorates based on research in Law, Economics, History, Political science and Sociology. These programmes enable students to engage in research and education, to move towards experts jobs, international organizations and public administrations. Masters are taught on Sciences Po's Paris Campus, in French or in English. The Master in Economics is entirely taught in English and the Master in Sociology is proposed in English and in French. Sciences Po's Doctoral School supports international mobility by providing scholarships and offers three dual doctoral degrees with Columbia University, International Max Planck Research and Northwestern University.

Entry Requirements: for the Master's programmes, a Bachelor's degree; for the PhD programme, a Master's degree
Duration: 2 years (Master's programme) / 3 years (PhD programme)

    Are most people in the PhD people who got their Masters at Sciences Po? And does an American J.D. count as a masters for the purposes of applying? (Interested in sociology.)


    Do most people do a master at the school and then go on to do a phd in the same school?


    After my masters I went straight into work. Now I want to do a PhD but it’s been a long time since I’ve been in academia. Will you accept me if I don’t have recent work to show you?
